Lord Jagannath Rathyatra Rolls Out Amid Grand Festivities

Ahmedabad, Jul 3: It was a sight to cherish as a huge procession of brilliantly decked elephants and trucks, with thousands of devotees, marked the 134th Rathyatra of Lord Jagannath on Sunday July 3.

Almost 20 elephants and nearly a 100 trucks will be seen in the procession this time. About a 1000 devotees will lead the three main chariots of Lord Balram, Subhadra and Lord Jagannath.

There were also acrobats and gymnasts adding to the festivity.

Tight security has been arranged for the smooth functioning of the yatra, with over 15,000 policemen including 36 IPS officers being deployed, police said, apart from teams from 40 security agencies, paramilitary forces and BSF.

As many as 65 videographers from various locations will record the procession, it is learnt.
