Udupi: COTPA team raids business establishments selling tobacco, slaps fine

Udupi, Mar 24: COTPA investigation squad raided shops, hotels, bars and restaurants that sell and allow people to use tobacco products at their premises and slapped fine on them.

The raids were conducted at Beedinagudde, Chitpady and Bannanje areas. 36 cases were registered and a fine of Rs 6400 was collected.

Taluk health officer Dr Vasudeva Upadhyaya, senior health inspector Devappa Pattagar, taluk education department personnel Gopal Shetty, labour inspector Vijendra K and surveillance officer Shaila Shamanoor were in the team.

    Why the above subject not happening in Manipal?. Being a education hub as well as health department smoking should be totally banned in such places.
