Panaji: DGP's Comments against Media Condemned by Journalists

Panaji, June 22 (PTI) Journalists in Goa protested against the Director General of Police Aditya Arya for his comments against media recently.

Arya had spoken against media, following a row over his statements that he would have ordered fire on the tribals protesting at Balli on May 25.

Arya had said that his statements on Balli were "twisted by those, who are not sensitive to maintaining peace and law and order in Goa" and "Goa police is being maligned by certain motivated sections of the media for the purposes best known to them."

Expressing displeasure over his statements against media, a delegation of journalists, led by Goa Union of Journalists (GUJ) Pandurang Gaonkar, met Arya. Gaonkar presented Arya with a CD that shows him making the controversial statements during a seminar on human rights.
