Kundapura, Mar 19: "BJP is just showing respect to women only through pictures, maps, and handing over the national flag to women. But, Congress respects and considers each and every woman as Bharathmatha," said Congress leader Prathibha Kulai.

She was speaking during the Congress' Women's Convention at Sahana Convention Centre in Ankadakatte, Kundapura, on Sunday, March 19 in the morning.

“This time the women voters of the state will give a befitting answer to the BJP which acted as the agents of the corporate companies. Congress is always in favour of the poor. And it has proved to the world by bringing the Land Reforms Act,” she said.

Udupi District Congress president Geetha Whagle said after the BJP came to power prices of all commodities had zoomed. “BJP will not uplift women. BJP is protecting the rich from payment of taxes. BJP is a party of the rich. The women in the district will give a proper answer in the elections,” she said.

Former president of Udupi district Congress Veronika also spoke on the occasion and slammed the BJP government.

Kundapura Block Women Congress leader Devaki Sannaiah presided. Rekha Poojary, Kundapura Block Congress president Hariprasad Shetty and others were also present.
