'Don't Rely on US Courts to Bring Terror Plotters to Justice'

Srinagar, Jun 12 (PTI) Senior Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar has said India should not rely on the US courts to bring those to justice who are suspected of terror links, following acquittal of Tahawwur Rana on the Mumbai attack charges by a Chicago court.

"We should not rely on the US court and wait for taking steps in our country," Aiyar told reporters here yesterday.

Pakistani-Canadian Rana was last week acquitted on charges of involvement in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks by a US federal court, but convicted him for providing material support to Laskhar-e-Taiba and for plotting an attack in Denmark.

The former Union Minister, however, said he has always respected the law and judiciary.

"We should accept their decision as they have only said that in their opinion Rana was not involved in the 26/11 attacks as per the evidences produced.
