Bantwal, Feb 4: “As we are on the threshold of elections we should be ready and determined for them. Every booth level worker needs to work with enthusiasm. We have encouraged activists when they faced difficulties. Several people are joining our party as they like our ideology. Let us unite the party together with them”, said Dr Rajaram K B, president of Uppinangady block Congress.

He was speaking presiding over the meeting of party activists as a prelude to the Karavali Prajadhwani programme that will be held at Puttur Vidhan Sabha block.

KPCC member M S Mohammed said that people who trust secular ideology do not like BJP. “BJP wants casteism and communalists. Ashok Kumar Rai gave up religion and caste through his trust and cooperated. Let us try for the victory of the Congress party candidate. I am confident that the Congress party will come to power in Puttur again. We should repay the party’s debt. The Block Congress president is repeatedly strengthening the party here. Congress party should come back to power so that we may live forgetting religion and caste,” he said.

Congress leader Ashok Kumar Rai said that it is the first meeting of activists after his joining the party. “I am bound by the verdict of the high command. I have not come here as the MLA candidate. The party has made me work for 22 years. I have helped 22 thousand families through our trust repaying a part of what is gained back to the society. I do not intend to be the MLA to earn money but to help the poor,” he said to the topic raised by former MLA Shakuntala Shetty.

“Activists should speak less and work more. I will come with you to the wards as an activist and know the difficulties of the people. We need to spend time on the responsibilities shouldered by us. We need the cooperation of all,” he said.

Divyaprabha Gowda Chiltadka said that they need to seek votes after informing them of the development made by them. “Let us proceed as per the guidance of elders. Let us work together,” she said.

Nelligudde Meenakshi and Vijaya Chandalike who joined Congress meanwhile were welcomed by party leaders with the party banner.
