Kundapur, Dec 9: “Sport teaches lessons along with the games. Success is tasted when one does not deflate during hard times in life," opined Pejawar Swamiji.

Swamiji spoke after inaugurating the state level PU volleyball tournament that is being held from December 8 to 10 under the aegis of PU education board, Sunnari Education Trust and Excellent PU college at the campus of Sunnai excellent PU college.

Speaking on the occasion, former minister Pramod Madhwaraj said, “It is really tragic that there is no encouragement for sports in our country unlike in overseas countries. Sports policy is implemented in the state of Karnataka. Grace marks should be given to students who are into sports. It is really appreciable that employers are recruiting sports achievers.”

 

The programme was presided over by Basrur Appanna Hegde, administrative trustee of Basuru Mahalingeshwara temple.

Prakashchandra Shetty, secretary, Yashpal Suvarna, president of Fisheries Federation and others were present.

Trust treasurer Bharath Shetty welcomed the gathering. Dr Ramesh Shetty, principal of Excellent PU college delivered the introductory speech. Teacher Sathish Pithrodi compered the event.
