Udupi, Dec 3: Silver jubilee celebrations and annual day of kindergarten to class 5 of Mount Rosary English school Santhekatte was held on Friday December 2 at the school grounds.

In his message Fr Valerian Mendonca said, “I congratulate the school for this milestone. The school has been imparting academic and civic excellence for the past 25 years. Achievements of the students are remarkable. Education has been formed in and around Kallianpur. I am happy to observe the school has given opportunities to talents development of students as well. Our schools aim at producing socially responsible and morally upright citizens for India and the world. In a globalized world we have a great mission of training the young minds and hearts. Every student who comes to the school has a right and a responsibility to do well. We are in post covid era. It is disturbing to see nowadays educated students committing suicide for small little reasons. What is it that drives them to take such a step. All the adults and the parents have a responsibility to look into this matter. We do not train the kids today to face the challenges. Our parents had trained us in hard work. Todays children are given whatever they want, but it is the responsibility of the parents to decide what they need. We should realise that we are not doing a favour by giving kids whatever they wasn’t they need to explore life, we have a responsibility to give what they need. Every student is precious to the school. Everyone should grow as socially responsible. This should happen inside the four walls of the school. Role of the parents is also very high in this process”.

Sharing her thoughts on the occasion Sr Adrian Serrao SRA, former headmistress of the school said, “This school was a home to me. It was started with just 25 children, it feels proud to see the changes happened here. I want to thank all the parents, neighbours, auto and tempo drivers for their selfless help to me, I was overwhelmed to see my students and parents. Let the Mother Rosary bless us all”.

Fr Dr Leslie C D’souza, former correspondent congratulated the students of 2021-22 of SSLC batch for realizing his dream of achieving cent percent results in the board examinations.

Ranganath K, block education officer graced the occasion and congratulated the school management on completing 25 years.

In his presidential address Fr Vincent Crasta, secretary CESU said, “ I congratulate the heads of the institution on this joyous occasion. Let this institution continue providing education without any boundaries. Undivided Dakshina Kannada district is known for academic excellence and achieving great results. Kannada medium schools are being closed due to less students nowadays. Under catholic board of education in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district we had 320 institutions. Currently CESU has 62 institutions, 2 first grade colleges, one industrial training institute, 3 CBSE schools, one ICSE school, 13 English medium primary school, 12 English medium high schools, 21 Kannada medium primary school and 9 Kannada medium high schools. In this every year one or two Kannada medium schools are being closed. Our institutions were the pioneers in providing education in undivided Dakshina Kannada. But today it is very difficult to run educational institutions. It is our mission to provide education. Education is not a business, we could also did it as a business. There are institutions providing air conditioned classrooms, swimming pools etc. but we have sophisticated school premises and not ac and swimming pools. We haven’t seen any barriers of religion, and anything else. But here we provide education even to the poorest of poor. I congratulate all the parents for their decision to admit their children to our institution. This institution has created a revolution in the area through education”.
