For 6 Years, Osama Lived in Pakistan under Army Nose

Washington/Islamabad, May 3 (PTI): For over six years, the world's most wanted man Osama bin Laden appeared to have been living under the very nose of the Pakistani Army in the garrison town of Abbottabad.

Bin Laden was staying in a one million dollar three- storeyed mansion just 800 yards from the Pakistan Military Academy, about 120 km from the country's capital Islamabad, when he was eliminated by US commandos yesterday.

Given the mansion's "closeness to the central location of the Pakistani army", several US lawmakers described as "astounding" and "difficult to understand" Pakistan's claim that they did not know about bin Laden's presence in their soil.

An indication as to how long the mastermind behind the deadly 9/11 terror attack in US stayed in the mansion was given by the Seal team of the American Navy involved in the dramatic 40-minute operation.

John Brennan, President Barack Obama's Advisor on Counter-terrorism, said the Seal team which undertook the operation believed that the 54-year-old al-Qaeda chief had lived in the compound targeted in the attack for six years.

Other top US officials said that latest intelligence reports indicated that the al Qaeda chief had been living in the Abbottabad mansion for over six years. bin Laden's presence in Pakistan had been denied for years by the country's top leadership.

US lawmakers pilloried Pakistan and said it will be a "real pressure" on that country to prove they did not know bin Laden's presence deep inside their country.

They said they had strong suspicions that its powerful spy agency ISI was aware about bin Laden's presence in the country.

"It's very difficult for me to understand how this huge compound could be built in a city just an hour north of the capital of Pakistan, in a city that contained military installations, including the Pakistani military academy, and that it did not arouse tremendous suspicion, especially since there were no Internet or telephone connections and the waste was incinerated and there was barbed wire all around the top of the compound," Senator Susan Collins said.

Senator Joe Lieberman said there are going to be a lot of questions raised in the US Congress about what people in the Pakistani intelligence agency particularly knew or should have known about the presence of bin Laden in Pakistan itself.

"For years, you know, the Pakistani officials have said to us he's not in Pakistan; he's in the mountains in Waziristan between Pakistan and Afghanistan."

He said:  "We have a lot of reason to believe that elements of their intelligence community continue to be very closely in touch with and perhaps supportive of terrorist groups that are fighting us and the Afghans in Afghanistan."

In Lieberman's view, it will be a "real pressure" on Pakistan to prove they did not know bin Laden's presence.

US' former national security advisor Gen James Jones claimed Pakistani intelligence and military were "certainly probably" aware about the hiding place of  bin Laden in Abbottabad.

"My personal view is that they certainly probably were aware of it. For whatever reasons, they chose not disclose it until perhaps recently. I don't know...But it does raise a lot of questions, no doubt about that," Jones told the MSNBC.

Senator Carl Levin, Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said the army and the intelligence of Pakistan have plenty of questions that they should be answering, and hopefully they are being asked by the Pakistani government.

"I think that the Pakistani army and intelligence have a lot of questions to answer, given the location, the length of time and the apparent fact that this facility was actually built for bin Laden, and its closeness to the central location of the Pakistani army," Levin said.

Senator Frank Lautenberg said, "The ability of Osama bin Laden to live in a compound so close to Pakistan's capital is astounding – and we need to understand who knew his location, when they knew it, and whether Pakistani officials were helping to protect him."

Most of us blame bin laden for 9/11 incident, but this is not proved yet. He is still "PRIME SUSPECT” (ಆರೊಪಿ). If he is really responsible for 9/11 then what he got is not enough.

But what about G. W. Bush who killed thousands of civilians in Afghanistan just for sake for searching one man (LADEN). Next he killed thousands in Iraq saying there are weapons of mass destruction in IRAQ but later he agreed there is no weapons of mass destruction in IRAQ.
Just think about people in Palestine who are being killed daily by Israeli's with the full support of America. Now in Libya, again killing thousands of people.

Then what punishment should G.W. Bush deserve ?

USA! Fooling around with facts and making people believe their stories for all the time. First they went on attack at Vietnam and lost it.Then Weapons of mass destruction at IRAQ, found nothing!its all for oil and power control, Then Sudan a medical factory, They blew(CIA) blew twin towers and it was controlled demolition, not the plane attack, Planes have been hitting buildings world wide, has anyone seen any buildings getting demolished like that! Its all brain washing through Media,

Now Osama Bin Laden? He is the guy raised and supported by USA and now they claim to have killed him ! Well i think that person is dead long ago. America, land of confusion and evil which forces NWO - New World Order and soon plans to take over the world through new world order, one world Govt and single currency , transaction through RFID- cashless society... WATCH OUT

If they really capture him so where is the proof???? why they not show his dead body to the world???pictures and video,,huh,
Nothing more than a political stunt to dissolve the Bin Laden

How they managed to secretly fly four helicopters across the Pakistan border that too near the capital and into a military garrison city that was home to the country's military academy.
How the SEAL team was able to conduct what was described as a 40-minute mission, including a firefight and the explosives destruction of a helicopter, without the Pakistan military or police intervening. What's more the operation was watched live in USA while locals were sleeping or enjoying

AFTER the operation was sucessfully completed & the team flew out of Pakistan...apparently they avoided Pakistan airspace radars by flying low, again i don't know if this is true but it's common knowledge that it's possible for choppers to avoid aerial detection by flying low enough,so that claim doesn't seem exaggerated...

Nothing more than a political stunt to dissolve the Bin Laden

In a big specially built mansion,
very close to the military center
how he could hide for six years?

    Pakistan government can't convince
    the U.S. government or any
human being in the world about
this dark mystery of the century.

    The U.S. government is financially
    struggling and cutting corners
everywhere to pay the bills, so
    giving billions of dollars
in foreign aid to Pakistan will be
    challenged by the political
    leadership of the U.S. Perhaps,
it may be suspended for a few
    years until the government of
Pakistan can totally prove to be
    innocent. Anyway, now Pakistan is
faced with the worst political and
    diplomatical crisis of her history.

Vidit Bangalore, I have a message for you and those who think similarly like u. USA is not bothered what u think of them. They take actions based on facts, do what they feel is right & what American people want. I had a family friend killed in the 9/11 incident. U got to realize this world is not safe after 9/11 specially. A deadly incident like this made life miserable for every one, can't tarvel, can't be in a mall..
Issue here is about Pakistan who harbored & sheltered this killer for 6 years when money was spent in searching for him in the mountains of Afghanistan. USA needn't prove things to u. Try to straighten Indian Issues first. No guts to hang Kasab. What a joke.
Pakistan has to answer many questions now. I'm surprised not a single soul talks about a creepy neighbor who went on to shelter DREADED killer for more than 6 years. I want to see some matured comments. After all we shouldn't be sitting on our brains, should work through it.
A terrorist is killed, but it's not over yet. Caution should be practiced every moment.

Osama was a seed of terrorism, similar seeds have spread in the entire world. Dawood, Hafiz Saeed, Zakhi-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, Masood Azar, Yusuf Muzammil and Sajid Mir and others are in the wanted list.
Pakistan handover these terrorists to India or face the consequences.

American acts are transparent to all, nothing hidden. It is only Indian double standared mentality. We are like that so we think all re are like that. In india if you bribe government will make new doccuments of some ones own land in your name. Our ministers act like gandhi and fill up swiss bank treasury. Our ministries speak countries prosperity and encouraging to attack, persecute and kill minorities. How can country prosper if leaders of the nation destroy communal harmony? USA is great for their citizens and to its friends. I salute America, GOD BLESS AMERICA.
