Udupi: Use of swords during Durga Daud march – Organizations seek police action

Udupi, Oct 5: Likeminded organizations have sought police action for using swords during Durga Daud march here. They submitted a complaint to SP Akshay Machindra on Wednesday, October 5 in this connection.

"Srikant Shetty and Kajal Hindustani have spoken in a provocative manner while illegally brandishing swords and tried to spoil the harmony in Udupi. The incident was planned and the speakers were inciting crimes against a particular community of the society,” alleged the organizations.

Shamraj Birthi of Dalit Damanita Horata Samithi, Sunder Master of Dalit Sangharsha Samithi, Hussain Kodibengre, district convener, APCR, Abobacker Nejar, district president, Sunni Samyukta Jamat, Amrath Shenoy, president of Sahabalve, Christian leaders Charles Ambler, William Martis, CPM leader Balakrishna Shetty, social activist Faniraj, Afghan Hoode of Solidarity, Manjunath Balkudru, vice president of Muslim Okkoota Idris Hoode, Congress leader Ramesh Kanchan and others were present.
