Mangaluru, Sep 26: The newly appointed Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district Lokayukta SP Laxmi Ganesh urged the public to come forward to file cases with Lokayukta pertaining to corruption.

Addressing media here on Monday September 26, Laxmi Ganesh said, “If any officials are involved in corruption or suspected to have excessive assets, then public can come forward to file complaint with Lokayukta.

“Lokayukta has been strengthened from September 9 by the state government by giving police station powers. If a complaint is given, we will ensure stringent action against the concerned officials for taking bribe.

“The old cases of ACB are transferred to Lokayukta and the cases have been taken up. There are vacant posts in Mangaluru which includes one inspector and 6 police constable posts, and one inspector post in Udupi.

“The responsibility of Lokayukta is increased as the Prevention of Corruption Act has come under it. The operation will be conducted like the police,” he said.
