Shivamogga, Sep 26: The Diocesean Executive Committee (DEXCO) enlivening programme was organised at Our Lady of Lourdes Church Thirthahalli on September 25 and 26. Sixteen youth of the central committee participated in this programme.
Fr Pius D'Souza, the youth director of the diocese organised this programme meticulously which was very challenging for the youth and exciting at the same time. It commenced with the Eucharistic celebration with Fr Pius D'Souza as the main celebrant. In his homily, he enlightened the members how they can bring light in the lives of the young people. At the same time he challenged them to be the effective light so as to shine brighten the lives, events and activities. The group met to have one to one sharing that led to the deepening of their understanding towards each other.
The adoration of the Blessed Sacrament led to positive participation and stirred the hearts of the youth to be drawn closer to the heart of Jesus. Fr. Pius stressed on the theme of being always compassionate and loving like Jesus. They also experienced the spirit of forgiveness in the sacrament of reconciliation.
The second day began with prayerful meditation seeking the presence of the Lord. This was followed by the Holy Eucharist. The first session was very practical which enabled the participants to become more skilful in organising and conducting programs. Special emphasis was placed on the theme of leadership.
Sr Tresa Lidya BS, the animator of YCS/YSM of the Diocese spoke about personality development for youth and Nishal shared his personal experience in Yuvamitra. The panel session that followed guided by Sr Tresa Liday emphasised on the expectations of priest and religious on youth in the parish. Nishal stressed on the topic as how the youth could play a vital role in the church. The session ended with a concluding program with Fr Stephen Albuquerque, parish priest Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Thirthahalli and host of the programme sharing his message to the central team members and highlighting Christian leadership and discipleship. In his message he told the young leaders to represent Christ in the present world wholeheartedly.
In the evaluation session, the participants shared their experience and expressed that it was truly a very helpful and enriching session preparing them for life.
