Mangaluru: Pastoral visit to St Vincent Ferrer Church by Bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha

Mangaluru, Sep 26: It was indeed a big memorable day for the entire parish of St Vincent Ferrer Church Valencia to receive the bishop of Mangalore diocese, Dr Peter Paul Saldanha for the pastoral visit from September 24 to 25. He was accompanied by his secretary Fr Thrishan DSouza and William.

Fr Roque DSa the parish priest, Fr Vijay Monterio assistant parish priest, Fr Paul Sebastian DSouza resident priest, Fr William Barracas, Rita Menezes secretary of parish council along with parish council members,representatives and members of various associations of the parish and a large number of parishioners accorded a cordial welcome to the bishop with a flower bouquet and later through a grand procession accompanied him to the church on September 24.

After a formal welcome, a meaningful prayer service was held in the church by the bishop. Then he proceeded to visit the religious houses and educational institution of the parish.

In the evening the bishop celebrated the holy mass and administered the sacrament of confirmation. After mass the bishop visited the cemetery, blessed and offered prayers. Later on he had a meeting with the finance committee and the parish council which ended with a fellowship meal.

On the second day At the bishop celebrated mass and had discussions with the parishioners which was followed by a meeting with members of various associations at and gave his inputs and suggestions. He later proceeded to visit the remaining religious houses.

After his lunch he had a personal meeting with the parish priest and the assistant parish priest. He then visited Lourdes B ward and participated in the SCC meeting and then proceeded to visit the sick of the parish.
