Kundapur: Popular cine star Dr Ramesh Arvind chosen for Dr Shivarama Karanth award

Kundapur, Sep 24: Dr Ramesh Arvind, popular film actor and director has been selected for this year’s Dr Shivarama Karanth award. The award is being presented to him considering his services on a national level as an actor, director and resource person.

The award is presented to special achievers every year. Among those who have received the award are Veerappa Moily, Venkatachala, K Ramakrishna Hande, Ravi Belagere, Girish Kasaravalli, Jayashree, Mohan Alva, Salu Marada Thimmakka, Chittani Ramachandra Hegde, Jayanth Kaikini, Sadananda Suvarna, Dr B M Hegde, Prakash Rai, Sri Padre, Kavita Mishra, Nadoja Dr S L Bairappa and Girish Bharadhwaj.

The award will be presented on October 10, the birth anniversary of Dr Kota Shivarama Karanth, said Anand C Kunder, president of Dr Shivarama Karanth foundation.

Kotathattu gram panchayat president Ashwini Dinesh, selection committee member U S Shenoy, Kannada and culture department assistant director Poornima, Kotathattu gram panchayat vice president Vasu Poojary, PDO Jayaram Shetty and chief secretary of the foundation Narendra Kumar Kota were present.
