Kasargod: Suvasini Bhandary, Wife of Kallige Mahabala Bhandary, No More

Kasargod, Apr 12: Suvasini Bhandary (80), wife of former legislator and Kannada activist, the late Kallige Mahabala Bhandary, breathed her last at a hospital in Mangalore on Monday April 11.

After the demise of Mahabala Bhandary, Suvasini had started staying in Bendorewell, Mangalore. She later shifted her residence to Bantwal taluk. Suvasini had actively involved herself with various movements spearheaded by her husband, in the primitive years after Kasargod was left out at the time of formation of Karnataka during the linguistic reorganization of states. She also was jailed for the same. She participated in various pro-Kannada programmes in Kasargod, and was an inspiration for the new generation to continue to nurture love for Kannada.

Karnataka Samiti, Kerala border area unit of Karnataka Sahitya Parishat, Associaiton of Kannada Writers, Association of Kerala State Kannada Medium Teachers, Karavali Samskritka Pratishtana and various other organizations, apart from theatre personality, Kasargod Chinna, and Shankarnarayana Bhat, have mourned the death of Suvasini Bhandary.
