Bengaluru: Court quashes bail petition moved by Sampath Raj

Bengaluru, Dec 2: The 67th CCH court judge K Katyayini passed an order on Tuesday, December 1, dismissing the bail petition moved by former mayor Sampath Raj who has been accused of engineering the riots at KG Halli and DJ Halli here with an eye on reaping political benefits in which assets worth lacs of rupees including house and vehicles were destroyed.

Sampath Raj has been named as the main accused in the case about torching the house of MLA Akhanda Srinivas Murthy. After evading arrest for several days, he was caught by the central crime branch police. He had thereafter filed for bail but the court has declined him bail. Therefore he continues to be kept in the central prison at Parappana Agrahara.
