Mangalore, May 17: ka19.in may appear to be RTO number plates for Mangalore vehicles. Far from it, this is a gateway for Mangaloreans worldwide to build friendships and collect information through the worldwide web.

www.ka19.in is a social network web portal developed and promoted by city youngster Yatiraj, and was inaugurated at the press club on Friday May 14.

Walter Nandalike, who has already put Mangalore on the global map through daijiworld.com, released the website in the presence of packed media persons.

“Mangalore is already on the worldwide map and the number of websites launched each day shows the use of technology by Mangaloreans worldwide. Perhaps Mangalore stands first in India in the number of regional websites because there are at least 15-20 websites from coastal Karnataka focusing on the coastal districts of the state”, said Nandalike, soon after releasing the portal.

“Mangalore also tops in publication of print periodicals, and there are a number of dailies, evening papers, afternoon dailies, and other periodicals published from the city. These are a big number for Mangalore and the city stands tall in the nation, right after the major metros”, he added.

He congratulated Yatiraj and expressed his confidence that people will make the right use of this site.

Earlier, Yatiraj explained the features of the web portal. People can make use of this website for extending friendships, playing games, cinema news, photo galleries, videos, and other features which will be available soon.

He admitted that he was inspired by the social network websites Orkut and Facebook.

“The portal will also provide SSLC and PUC model question papers, a future education guide, information on educational institutions and employment information” said Yatiraj.

Harish Karkera , director, V-4 Media, advocate Raviprasanna and city corporator Bhaskarchandra, participated as guests.
