International flights to remain suspended till December 31

New Delhi, Nov 26 (IANS): The Centre on Thursday extended the suspension of scheduled commercial international flight operations to and from India till December 31.

"This restriction shall not apply to the international all-cargo operations and flights specifically approved by the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation)," an official statement said on Thursday.

"However, international scheduled flights may be allowed on selected routes by the competent authority on a case to case basis," it added.

At present, India has entered into 'Air Bubble' agreements with several countries.

This type of arrangement allows nationals of both the countries to travel in either direction.

Passenger air services were suspended on March 25 due to the nationwide lockdown to check the spread of Covid-19.

Domestic flight services, however, resumed from May 25.

Japan has recently reported deadly Bird Flu eruptions in 3 prefectures & are containing it!

Unless, the situation is not stabilized in Europe & other places, it would be very risky to resume IFs!

Bangladesh, Philippines & Pakistan have flights to the Gulf.

But while everything under the sun is currently open in India, including our borders, bus, trains, domestic flights, hotels & bars...metros...malls...(except schools) there is absolutely no real logic in comparision, for extending the flights ban.

On one hand people travel freely without any tests or without most basic precautions...etc, on the other hand you ban international flights, even though people have had pre-flight tests!

Normally almost all NRIs visit India during Christmas 🎄 and New year. Udupi and Mangalore were crowded with NRIs during Christmas but not this year.
Hope the life will come to Normal ASAP.

Living away from family is not a choice but a sacrifice in order to meet 'daily bread'. If earnings were enough and foreign locations were receptive to accommodate family members, many would have opted for 'family status' choice rather than 'single'.

Please read all the "synonyms" for "sacrifice"!
If you want something extraordinary, you have to sacrifice something; it depends on various variables in life!!

Very difficult to understand the agenda of DGCA. It is obvious somewhere they want to bring to life the dying Air India. But why the other airlines are keeping quiet is a big mystery. They are so reluctant to open the aviation sector, even though everything under the sun is opened. This is inconveniencing millions of Indians who wish to return but no solution in sight. Hope the aviation minister and DGCA look at it from a humanitarian angle.

I can see all flights from other countries ( Bangladesh/Philippines/Pakistan) coming to the Gulf except Indian flights very sad to the people who went on vacation and not able to come back. This is the reality of the Indian government.

Indian govt. was busy boasting of the largest evacuation of people in history, at the expense of NRIs stuck up in other countries.

Even the so called "Vande Bharat" flights from Kuwait were being cancelled at the last moment causing untold hardship to returning NRIs, since many had given up their residences besides losing jobs, sources of incomes etc.

Indian govt. was also nagging with GCC countries regarding allowing flights to India during the initial period of lock downs in those countries

India doesn't have a fixed policy in handling international matters, even in times of crisis arising out COVID 19

On the other hand Indian foreign minister was begging Arab countries to allow Indians to return to their jobs over there while Modi is boasting of a Five trillion dollar economy.

What is the plan of Modi for returning NRIs due to the global crisis???

    Jai Hind.
