Mangaluru: 'Angana' venue for literature, culture, art of coastal Karnataka, inaugurated

Mangaluru, Nov 25: The inauguration of 'Angana', a venue for literature, culture and art activities, which was very much needed, in the area of the beach of Panambur to Suratkal was inaugurated officially at the auditorium of Chithrapur Math in a programme that was presided over by founder of the organization Leeladhar Baikampady.

The inauguration of Angana was done by Sri Vidyendra Theertha Sreepada seer of Chithrapur math by lighting the lamp. He also unveiled the new logo of the organization. He also administered the oath to the maiden executive committee office bearers led by Leeladhar Baikampady and blessed them.

Giving his blessings, Swamiji said, "The development of anything whose root is storng will be phenomenal. That is why various forms of literature and art have grown exponentially from our tradition. The Chithrapur math is known for creative activities of various forms since its inception. There is no doubt that the Angana, which will be the venue for various art, literature activities, will also be renowned in some time. The math will always support activities that have clear aims."



Speaking on the occasion, renowned senor stage artiste Geetha Suratkal said, "By giving the place for Angana, Chithrapur math has already heralded the planned activities of the organization. Let this venue become active with numerous art activities and become famous."

Lecturer and renowned literatteur Ananth Padmanabha Shibaroor, who was also one of the guests at the programme said, "Angana, which has the aim of bringing various activities under one roof is a unique stage. When literature, culture and art are identified separately, their effect seems limited. When they are presented in a single stage together, their effect will be unmatched. So this is really a fruitful attempt."

One more chief guest, lecturer and matured Yakshagana artiste, Vadiraja Kalluraya said, "Let the festivities that are supposed to take place in this venue be the attempts that reflect the inner feelings of us. Through that, let the art inside us come to light. Let the people who present the art on this stage present ideals of special nature."

Poem compilation 'Nagna Sathya' written by the vice-president of the organisation, Yogish Kanchan Baikampady was also released on the occasion by Swamiji of Chithrapur math. Praveen Baikampady briefed the gathering about the book.

Suresh Kulai led the prayer in the beginning of the programme. Shivaram Panamboor introduced the guests and welcomed the gathering. Founder and president of the organization Leeladhar Baikampady held the introduction. Professor Krishnamurthy Chithrapura delivered the wishful speech. Chief secretary, Satish Kotian rendered the vote of thanks.

Cultural activity of the highest order was presented by the members of the organization and proposed literateurs of the locality as part of the entertainment programme.

The cultural part of the programme was compered by Shailesh Baikampady. Vrinda Konna compered of the stage programme.
