Mangaluru: Srinivas University to hold online national level paper contest for PhD students on Nov 2

Mangaluru, Nov 19: In collaboration with IEEE of Mangaluru subsection, the IEEE Srinivas University student branch on November 21 is hosting a national level paper contest for PhD students in virtual mode.

The contest will be held in two categories- Computer Science and Computer Systems. About 50 research scholars have already registered and submitted scholarly articles. Among the articles received, nine papers in each category are selected and they will be presented on the day of the contest. The best paper in each category will be awarded a Rs 5000 cash prize. The virtual inauguration of the contest will be conducted at 9.30 am. Dr Vasudeva, counselor, IEEE student branch, SMVITM Bantakal, treasurer, IEEE Mangaluru sub-section will be the chief guest, Dr Niranjan Chiplunkar, principal of NMAMIT, Nitte, past chair, IEEE Mangaluru sub-section will be the guest of honour.

The programme will be presided over by Dr P S Aithal, the vice-chancellor of Srinivas University, head of IEEE Srinivas University student branch. The valedictory programme of the national level paper contest will be held on November 21 at 4.00 pm on virtual mode.

Dr Karunakar A Kotegar, a senior member of IEEE, professor and head of the department of Computer Application, MIT Manipal will be the chief guest, Professor P Shridhara Acharya, dean, CCIS, Srinivas University will be the guest of honour and Dr P S Aithal will be the president of the function.

The conveners of the national level paper contest are Dr U C Niranjan and Dr Krishna Prasad K, counselor of IEEE Srinivas University student branch. Dr A Jayanthiladevi, advisor, IEEE Srinivas University student branch said that for young researchers, it is an opportunity to participate and learn about scholarly paper writing and presentation skills.
