Vijayapura: Murderous attack on Bhyragonda's entourage - Arrests soon

Vijayapura, Nov 4: Belagavi north range inspector general of police ((IGP), Raghavendra Suhas, stated that the police have got information about the culprits involved with the gun attack on Congress leader Mahadeva Bhyragonda and his close ones on the banks of River Bhima on Monday November 2.

The IGP visited the spot of the attack near Vijayapura on Tuesday. "This was a pre-planned conspiracy. Three gangs attacked Bhyragonda. During the checks conducted in a one-km radius from the spot on the day the incident happened, we have found five motorbikes, a tipper, and different lethal weapons. Special teams have been formed to nab the criminals. 150 policemen posted from Vijayaplura and Bagalkot police departments are on high alert, "he said.

He also informed that the police teams have conducted 25 raids in connection with the said attack so far, which happened on Monday evening till now. He also said that papers relating to ongoing rivalry between the Bhyragonda family and Chadchan family are being studied. He said that the police teams have also visited the forensic science laboratory at Belagavi and undertake n checks.

Investigation officials have said that during the checks, they found that a petrol bomb was hurled but luckily it did not explode.

Driver of Mahadev Bhyragonda, who was injured during the attack on Monday, succumbed on Tuesday. With this, the number of persons killed in the attack has gone up to two. In the meanwhile, the doctors have removed three bullets that had got embedded in Bhyragonda's body.
