Ballari: Social media laps up abrupt resignation by Hampi DySP

Ballari, Oct 24: In an incident that is reminiscent of the resignation of Kudligi deputy superintendent of police (DySP) Anupama Shenoy, sometime back Hampi DySP - S S Kashi Gowda had tendered his resignation from the post. Sources say that a public reproach to him from Ballari inspector general of police (IGP) Nanjunda Swamy at a meeting where the IGP asked Gowda to resign had triggered this decision. The social media have lapped up this incident and are hotly debating the circumstances leading to the resignation.

A meeting of DySPs was held here on Thursday October 22. Speaking on the occasion, the IGP had taken the officers to task warning them to conduct investigations properly without doing injustice to anyone. At that time, it is said some differences cropped between the IGP and Kashi Gowda. On Friday, Kashi Gowda resigned from his post. It is learnt that SP Saidulu Adavath. sent back the resignation letter citing that he was not in the district headquarters and hence was unable to accept the same. It is said that the SP has asked the DySP to visit his office to discuss the issue. Reports say that Kashi Gpowda is determined to resign. However, it is not clear on which IGP and DySP have serious differences.

Kashi Gowda S S who began his service at Yavaladinni station in Raichur district, has been transferred 37 times during his 25 years of service. It is said that he has said the following about himself. "I have got everything from the department like communication, dignity, position, fame, infamy etc. I had resigned twice when I was police sub-inspector. But a senior officer told me that resigning is like committing sicide which cowards do and therefore I withdrew the same. I had decided not to resign on my own. But the IGP asked me yesterday to resign. Therefore, I have resigned," he reportedly said in a message posted in the police group, which has given rise to quite a sensation.

Kashi Gowda said that regarding his resignaiton letter, higher officers have asked him to visit them for consultaton. He said he will provide details after his resignation is accepted.

Inspector general of police Nanjunda Swamy, when contacted said he is unaware about the resignation letter. He said he keeps repeating that thorough investigation should be conducted in all cases and illegal stone quarrying and illegal sand extraction should be stopped and it should be ensured that no one faces injustice.
