Mangaluru, Oct 2: Preparations are done in order to start Plasma therapy center at Wenlock hospital in the city. Officials of Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) have inspected the facility. It is expected that permission will be granted soon. This information was shared by Dr Rajendra K V, deputy commissioner (DC) of Dakshina Kannada district.
The DC spoke in a programme that was held on Thursday, October 1 at his office held Dakshina Kannada Red Cross unit on account of National Voluntary Blood donation Day.
Heads of 18 organizations, which have collected more than 100 units of blood in one year, were felicitated during the programme. Ten plasma donors, who beat coronavirus, were also honoured.
CA Shantharama Shetty, president of Dakshina Kannada district unit of Red Cross, presided over the function. Sujaya U Shetty, Mangaluru zonal chief of Bank of Baroda, Mona Rao, probationary IAS officer, Dr U V Shenoy, chief of blood bank subcommittee were present.
Honorary secretary of Red Cross district unit S A Prabhakara Sharma welcomed the gathering. The programme was compered by Yathish Baikampady.
