Sand should be available to people of Udupi: Kuilady Suresh Nayak

Udupi, Sep 16: "A few days back the district administration began auctioning the seized sand in the city, but we are pressurizing the administration that it should be available for Udupi alone. About 1,000 loads of sand are seized by the concerned department, which is stored in Shiroor and Hiriadka yard," said the BJP district president Kuilady Suresh Nayak.

He addressed a press meet here, on Wednesday, September 16. "It should not be transported to another district. If that happens, we will not tolerate it. People of Udupi have been waiting for sand for several years and the demand is also very high here."

"The district BJP is aiming to win more than 135 village panchayats in the upcoming elections and the party workers are devoting their time for this preparation and working hard for it. We want the central and state government schemes to reach the booth level. We are meeting all the beneficiaries of the government schemes. There are 228 in Dakshina Kannada and 104 in Kodagu. Hence, in our first visit, we want to achieve better results than in the earlier years," he said.

"BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel appointed district in-charge for all the districts, which come under the Mangaluru division. They are Umanath Kotian, MLA Mulki for Udupi, Bharatheesh for Dakshina Kannada, Rajesh Kaveri Kundapur as an assistant to him, Rajendra Mysuru, BJP state vice-president for Kodagu," Nayak said.

"The BJP launched a week-long ‘Seva Saptah’ programme to mark Modi’s birth anniversary on September 17. On that day, 70 programmes like distribution of instruments to specially challenged people, free glasses to 70 men and women, plasma donation campaign, plantation of sampling, blood donation, cleanliness drive in 70 villages, virtual meeting and awareness creative programme on COVID-19 will be held by the BJP units," the district BJP president said.

"A webinar on the thoughts and life of Din Dayal will be organized on that day commemorating Din Dayal's birth anniversary."

"A week-long campaign on ‘Atma Nibhar Bharath’ and 'Vocal for Local' campaign to promote khadi and local products will also be organized. All these programmes will be held to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi."

State conveners for various prakhoshtas namely, Sanjiv Mathandur MLA Puttur as state convener for Sahakara prakoshta, Pratap Simha Nayak MLC, Beltangady, state convener for senior citizen prakoshta, Yashpal Suvarna for fishermen prakoshta and Premananda Shetty Mangaluru, panchayat raj town prakoshta.

Uday Kumar Shetty divisional in-charge, Shreesha Nayak vice-president, Sadanand Uppinakudru, Veena Shetty, Shrinidhi and others were present.
