Panaji, Sep 16: The trains on Konkan Railway Corporation Limited’s route from Tuesday have begun taking their usual route through the Pernem tunnel in Goa, ending their month-long diversion due to the landslide.

The trains on the KRCL route were diverted since August 6, after the landslide that occurred 300 metres inside the Pernem tunnel due to heavy rains that lashed the Western coast then.

KRCL announced that the restoration work in the tunnel is completed and a 'track fit' certificate has been issued.

“The restoration work of Pernem tunnel at Km 384/6-7 between Madure and Pernem station of Karwar region is successfully completed and the track fit certificate was issued at 10.00 pm on September 15 and traffic is restored,” the spokesman said.

All the six trains which were either diverted via Madgaon-Londa-Miraj-Pune-Panvel or cancelled have been restored to their original route, he added.
