Mangaluru: NMAMIT professor invents 'Touchless Bell'

Mangaluru, Sep 3: The lives of billions of people around the world have been affected due to the Covid-19 situation. In the current condition, different requirements have been raised by the end-users in different fields.

Dr Aravinda C V, associate professor in the department of Computer Science & Engineering, NMAMIT, Nitte, and his teammate Lavanya S from Cisco, Bengaluru developed an innovative 'Touchless Bell' for temples.

This innovative device was inaugurated in the ‘Mahaganapathy Temple’ of Nitte campus on September 2 by Dr Niranjan Chiplunkar, principal, NMAMIT; Dr I Ramesh Mithanthaya, vice principal; professor Yogeesh Hegde, registrar; Dr Udayakumar Reddy, head of department of CSE; Dr Roshan Fernandes, associate professor department of CSE; and Dr Divakar Bhat, librarian were present during this function.

This touchless bell helps in maintaining social distancing. You have to just wave your hand near the sensor and the device will automatically sense hands and start ringing. Easy installation, low maintenance cost, customizable and low power consumption are its added benefits.
