Udupi: Cement bags stacked by roadside allowed to go waste

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Aug 14: A load of cement bags were stocked by the roadside next to the road connecting Nehru Nagar, Manipal here. It has now transpired that because of heavy rain, the entire stock of cement here was allowed to go waste.

The locals are not aware who stocked the cement in the open here. The municipal officials too are not given any concrete information.

Many members of the general public believe that this was the cement which was indented from Coromandel company to be used for concreting of the mud road. They have blamed irresponsibility on the part of the contractors and officials for the cement going waste.

The locals say instead of wasting the cement, it could have been given to the needy. Social worker, Ganeshraj Saralebettu, suspects that this could be part of some irregularity. He has urged the concerned to conduct detailed investigation into the issue and bring out the truth.

Who will take action? In bihar the bridges built with the cost of 500 cores washed away before inauguration. In Madyapradesh grains stored in open area were destroyed. It's all tax payers money but our only our leaders tell hum nahin karenge our kisi Ko karene denge.
