'The War Of The Worlds' now on the web

Los Angeles, Aug 7 (IANS): Actor Rafe Spall says bringing the story of the book, The War Of The Worlds, alive on the small screen was a thrilling experience.

The mini-series drama is an adaptation of HG Wells' 1898 science fiction novel of the same name. It is directed by Craig Viveiros.

"I am thrilled to be a part of bringing this much loved story to the small screen. I couldn't be in better company with Craig Viveiros, Peter Harness, and of course, the very talented (actress) Eleanor Tomlinson," Spall said.

Adapted by Peter Harness, the thriller is a blend of science fiction, period drama, and horror. The show follows George (Spall) and his partner Amy (Tomlinson) as they attempt to start a life together that has been interrupted by a Martian invasion of Earth.

"The version of ‘The War Of The Worlds' that I wanted to make is one that's faithful to the tone and the spirit of the book, but which also feels contemporary, surprising and full of shocks: a collision of sci-fi, period drama and horror. There is nothing cosy or predictable about Wells' novel, and that's what I wanted to capture," said Harness about his adaptation, which released in India on SonyLIV.
