IUML 'displeased' over Priyanka Gandhi's Ayodhya stand

Kozhikode (Kerala), Aug 5 (IANS): The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) - the second-biggest constituent of the Congress-led UDF in Kerala - on Wednesday "expressed its displeasure" over Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi welcoming the Bhumi Pujan in Ayodha to start construction of the Ram temple.

After an emergency meeting of its top brass, called in wake of several Congress leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi, supporting the Ayodhya programme, senior IUML leader and MP P.K.Kunhalikutty told the media that they have passed a resolution against the statement of Gandhi.

"We expressed our displeasure on the statement of Gandhi on the construction of the Ayodhya temple as it was out of place," he said.

Priyanka Gandhi, in her statement, said that "this programme, with blessings of Lord Ram and his teachings, should become a symbol of national unity, brotherhood and cultural amalgamation".

The outcome of the IUML meeting came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the Bhumi Pujan in Ayodhya and laid the first brick for the Ram temple.

The IUML had earlier conveyed its dissatisfaction to state Congress leaders over its top leaders, including Gandhi, and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, among others, supporting the ceremony.

Soon after this, Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal called up Kunhalikutty and said that they are open for a discussion to sort out the issue.

Of Kerala's 3.34 crore people, Muslims account for 88.73 lakh, second to the Hindu community which is above 50 per cent of the total population.

Historically, the Congress has reaped electoral dividends only when its leadership had relied on a secular grouping, like in 2004. Rajiv Gandhi’s role in the opening of the locks of the disputed site in 1986 and in allowing the ensuing ‘shilanyas’ in 1989 did not yield the desired results, ending with the BJP increasing its tally from two to 70 in the parliament. The Congress is yet to recover from its drubbing in Uttar Pradesh since the demolition of the Babri Masjid.
Gandhi visited Ayodhya on February 10, 1921, the first of his two visits to the place associated with Rama. He had just two messages to give – on Hindu-Muslim unity and non-violence.
One of the aims of his visit was to meet the sadhus of Ayodhya and persuade them to join the freedom movement. Gandhiji’s decision to meet them was significant considering that his attempt to turn the Khilafat Movement into an opportunity to promote Hindu-Muslim unity had started bearing fruit.
It would take anybody by surprise to know that Mahatma Gandhi, who was inspired to ceaselessly strive for Ram Rajya throughout his life, visited Ayodhya, the birthplace of Rama, just twice. However, through the messages he communicated on both occasions, he underlined the enormous significance of those visits.
I think Priyanka Gandhi is repeating the same mistake what her grand mother and father has done to which party is never recovered to date.
The Congress has not taken the message of Gandhi Said in Ayodhya: Violence Is a Mark of Cowardice, and the Sword Is a Coward’s Weapon.

India is a secular country where majority of the population are Hindus. For most of the Hindus Shri Ram is God. Priyanka Gandhi's statement regarding Ayodhya has to be welcomed by all. IUML should not make an issue for it. Let us all forget our differences and live in communal harmony. Let us all unite and win the battle against deadly Corona virus. Divine intervention is the need of the hour. Eventhough we worship in different ways we pray to one God Almighty . Unity in Diversity is the beauty of our mother India. Jai Hind.

It was placed after the babri masjid was closed by rajiv gandhi.
Even court once admitted that there were no any evidence to prove there existed any temple Ever.
Idols were placed and made people to believe there was temple befre.
It's totally a plan game. India is no more a democratic country.
