Bantwal, Aug 1: Bantwal taluk Hanchikatte resident, founder of Uppinangadi Vishwakarma Samaja Seva Sangha, progressive farmer Harischandra Acharya S (83) passed away at his residence here on August 1 after a brief illness. He has left behind wife, six sons and two daughters.

He was the proprietor of Chandra Jewellery, Uppinangadi, indulged actively in the social sector and founded Vishwakarma Samaja Seva Sangha. He had also served as the director of Sarapady milk producers association. He made a name as the village doctor of local medicine. His Agnishanti oil was very effective for burn injuries.

People used to arrive even from distant places to buy the oil. He also had a special interest in Bhajans and other religious programmes.
