Kundapur: Taluk Panchayat meeting urges to provide public hospital for all medical purposes

Kundapur, Jul 15: A taluk panchayat meeting was held here on Wednesday. Taluk panchayat vice president Kishan Hegde presided over the meeting. There were calls to allow Kundapur government hospital which is converted into a Covid hospital to be used for all medical purposes. 

Member Karuna Poojary said there are no buses to go to Kota and proper medical treatment is not available there. “Hostels can be converted as Covid hospitals if necessary,” he said.

The medical officer responded to it saying that only the maternity ward was being used for COVID treatment. “Outpatient department is open in the old building. Fever clinics are functioning in ten primary health centres in the taluk. There are separate teams for Covid hospital. Therefore, there is no need to be afraid,” he said.

Member Jyothi Putran said that the residences of those who are found to be corona positive are getting sealed down. “As the people in these houses are not permitted to come out, necessary food items should be delivered to them,” he said. Member Udaya Poojary said that the people who have arrived from outside the state have been placed in home quarantine. “No officials have been there to check on them. Meanwhile, ASHA workers are under protest,” he said.

Tahsildar responding to it, said that three nodal officers are appointed in the taluk. “Gram panchayat officials and village accountants should visit the places which have been sealed down and update photographs every 24 hours. I will certainly enquire about it.”

Member Indira Shetty said that the government has not started the Saptapadi programme yet. Surendra Kharvi said that land acquired at Gangolli Cholanakere should be vacated after a survey.

Other members stated that the district panchayat bill department and the accountant have not been functioning efficiently. Vice-president Kishan Hegde said that three taluk panchayat presidents have expressed their dissatisfaction about it.

Umesh Shetty Kalgadde requested permission to hold a blood donation camp with 20 people on Kundapur Kannada Anniversary Day. Narayana K Gujjadi said that certificates of scheduled caste and scheduled tribe should be available to beneficiaries.

Social justice committee president Roopa Pai, executive officer Keshava Shettigar and Tahsildar Anandappa Nayak were present.
