On being asked decision on lockdown in Udupi, minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said, "There is no need of lockdown in Udupi for the time being. Further decision will be taken considering the numbers of cases." He was speaking to reporters after handing over a ventilator donated by Red Cross to the government hospital in Kundapur.

“The chief minister during our discussions on lockdowns has said that we can decide after discussions with respective people representatives and district in-charge minister if lockdown is essential and inevitable. The district in-charge minister will consider the need and inevitability after obtaining the opinions of health officials before announcing lockdown. The lockdown for a week is declared in Mangaluru because it is necessary,” he said.

“No decision is taken about Hejmady and Kasargod borders. We will think about whether the borders should be opened or closed,” he said.
