Sullia: Lady's protest opposite youth's residence - HC stays women's commission order

Daijiworld Media Network - Sullia (SP)

Sullia, Jul 11: A woman who had come from Bengaluru had started staging a protest in front of the house of a youth here a few days back. She had claimed that the youth from Navoor had married her three years back. She also was armed with an order of the state women's commission, but the youth and his family had stoically denied her allegations and barred her from entering his home.

Upholding the request made by Asiya from Bengaluru, the women's commission had directed Ibrahim Khaleel Kattekkar from Nvoor to allow access to the woman to his house, in an order directed to the deputy director of women and child welfare department of the district.

An attempt to sort out the issue with the participation of negotiators was held between the two sides twice. Khaleel and Asiya were told to put together documents in their support and produce them in two weeks.

Khaleel and his family members had complained to the high court (HC) seeking a stay order against the notice of the women's commission, stating that the commission had taken a unilateral decision. The HC upheld the request and granted stay.
