Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 25: On the 18th day of the easing of lockdown, 29 new cases of novel coronavirus were reported in Dakshina Kannada, while 14 fresh cases were detected in Udupi district on Thursday June 25.

In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 46,910 people have been screened so far, including 259 on Thursday.

As per the district health bulletin, a total of 12,464 samples have been sent for tests till date, out of which 11,745 have turned out negative, and 494 positive, including 10 persons from other districts. Out of these, 140 are currently active. As many as 344 persons have recovered and been discharged, and 10 deaths have occurred so far.

As many as 43 patients, 40 males and 3 females including one child, were discharged from Wenlock on Thursday. 

A 49-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman are serious and being treated in ICU.

As many as 296 samples were sent for testing on Thursday. Reports of 203 samples were received on Thursday, out of which 29 tested positive and the rest negative. Reports of 255 samples are awaited.

Among the 29 corona-positive patients tested on Thursday, there are 13 males and 16 females including one child. Fourteen among them are Saudi Arabia returnees, two each have travelled from Sharjah and Qatar, one each from Muscat and Maharashtra, three each have contracted the infection from P-9588, a SARI patient and P-9589, a ILI patient, respectively, who tested positive on June 23, one with severe acute respiratory infections (SARI) and one with influenza like illness (ILI) symptoms have tested positive. The source of infection of one patient is being traced.

A total of 37 persons have been admitted for observation.

Altogether, 6,592 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. A total of 29 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) have been reported so far.

Udupi

As many as 14 people including three children tested positive for coronavirus in Udupi district on Thursday. Among the 14 patients, five are males and nine females. Ten are Maharashtra returnees, and the source of infection of four patients is being traced.

As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,881 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 7 on Thursday, and a total of 4,871 have completed 14 days of quarantine. As many as 638 persons are currently in home quarantine.

A total of 68 people are in isolation wards, including 11 fresh admissions on Thursday. Among them, five have SARI and three influenza-like illness.

As many as 968 people, including 21 on Thursday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.

A total of 13,840 samples have been collected so far, including 107 on Thursday, out of which 14 are COVID contacts and 23 are COVID suspects. Out of them, 12,336 samples have turned out to be negative, including 103 on Thursday, and 388 reports are awaited.

As many as 1,116 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, out of which 1,020 patients have been discharged so far including 33 on Thursday, and 94 cases are currently active. Two deaths have occurred so far. One positive case has been transferred to Dakshina Kannada.
