Sea erosion

In the meantime, waves have been hitting the seashore with vengeance at Uchila, Ullal Someshwara. Over 20 houses are facing danger and the connecting road near Uachila Battappady faces the chances of getting washed away. Incomplete and unscientific work on creating permanent structure against sea erosion has proved to be a curse for the region. Coastal Karnataka clocked an average of five to six cm of rainfall.

Vasant, residing in a house at Uchila that is facing grave danger from the sea, vacated the house. Over 12 coconut trees were uprooted in Uchila. Someshwar municipal chief officer Vani V Alva and others visited the spot to assess the situation.

Former minister and MLA U T Khader, said that he has urged district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, to undertake emergency work in places facing danger on a war footing. He said that the minister has promised to favourably respond to the request soon.

In a prediction valid till Sunday morning, the meteorological department has said that most of the places in the coast and a few more in interior Karnataka may receive rainfall coupled with thunder.
