Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 19: As many as 13 new cases of novel coronavirus were reported in Dakshina Kannada, while 11 fresh cases were reported in Udupi on Friday June 19.

In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 45,438 people have been screened so far, including 119 on Friday.

As per the district health bulletin, a total of 11,479 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which 10,996 have tested negative, and 422 positive, including 10 persons from other districts. Out of these, 208 are currently active. As many as 206 persons have recovered and been discharged, and eight deaths have occurred so far.

As many as 19 males and 11 females including four children were discharged from Wenlock on Friday.

As many as 147 samples were sent for testing on Friday. Reports of 118 samples were received on Friday, out of which 13 tested positive and the rest negative. Reports of 60 samples are awaited.

Among the 13 corona-positive patients, there are seven males and six females. Four among the positive tested patients are Saudi returnees, seven have come from Sharjah while the other two are suffering from Influenza like illness (ILI).

As many as 16 persons have been admitted for observation.

A total of 6,076 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. On Friday, 28 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) were reported. As many as 75 people have been screened in mobile fever clinics.

Udupi

As many as 11 people including three children tested positive for coronavirus in Udupi district on Friday. Among the 11 patients, six are male and five female. Four are Maharashtra returnees, two have travelled from Tamil Nadu and five patients have contracted infection from other positive patients. Three patients contracted infection from P-7024, while two patients contracted infection from P-7291.

As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,829 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including nine on Friday, and a total of 4,864 have completed 14 days of quarantine including two on Friday. As many as 749 persons are currently in home quarantine.

A total of 68 people are in isolation wards, including 10 fresh admissions on Friday. Among them, four are coronavirus suspects, four have SARI and two influenza-like illness.

As many as 903 people, including 18 on Friday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.

A total of 13,227 samples have been collected so far, including 87 on Friday, out of which 10 are COVID contacts. Out of them, 11,946 samples have turned out to be negative, including 43 on Friday, and 231 reports are awaited. As many as 1,050 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, with only 98 cases being currently active. As many as 950 patients including four on Friday who recovered have been discharged from hospital. Two deaths have occurred in the district. One positive case has been transferred to Dakshina Kannada.
