If the flight arrangement is not done by the the Government, the why the name Vande Bharath Mission...??? All the arrangements were done by Tulu associations and our Governments contribution is just give the permission and nothing else. People are spending more than double the money to travel and when they come here, they are quarantined at their own cost (which is exorbitant...!!!!! And I just want to know what is Governments contribution....???

The contrast between this and V.P. Singh’s evacuation of more than 111,000 Indians trapped in Kuwait by Iraq’s 1990 invasion of the country, was the trigger for my belief.

V.P. Singh during his prime ministership, decision-making process in 1990. The first thing he thought about, before considering even the foreign exchange crisis that Iraq’s invasion would trigger, was the security of the 170,000 Indians who were working in Kuwait at the time. Although Saddam Hussein’s government assured that it would keep them safe, most of Indians there wanted to come home. So when ferrying them back directly from Kuwait proved too difficult to arrange, Singh got Saddam Hussein to agree to our transporting them 1120 kms overland via Basra to Amman and flying them home from there.
That aircraft then flew flawlessly 16 to 18 hours every day for the next two months, till all the 111,000-plus who had wanted to return had been repatriated. All in all, Air India and Indian Airlines flew 488 return flights. Till today, that remains the largest rescue airlift the world has known.

V.P. Singh never even considered charging the Indians stuck in Kuwait in 1990 for no fault of their own. Not only is Modi charging Indians stranded abroad by COVID-19 but also the millions of poor trapped by his lockdown decision.

It proves the leadership quality of the late Prime Minister VP Singh and the current political dispensation. It is now for Kuwait NRI's and their families to decide the person who comes to help in difficult time is their true leader.

The Kuwait Invasion and the repatriation then was totally different then the current situation the whole world is facing. Flight service and repatriation are being limited due to the COVID. Also the repatriation of Indians at the moment isn't limited to only one country but is taking place in more than 30 countries, understand the logistics, under staff of resources at various places due to social distance norms and other formalities required at many Indian mission abroad. Thing wise and do your part to help fellow citizens. You can contribute and participate to the process at various levels rather than the blame.
