Coronavirus cases in Dakshina Kannada shoot up by 79 on June 16, seven new in Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 16: Dakshina Kannada on Tuesday June 16 saw a sharp rise in the number of coronavirus cases, with 79 fresh cases reported in the district. Udupi meanwhile reported seven new cases.

Dakshina Kannada reported the highest single-day spike among districts in Karnataka on Tuesday.

Among the 79 new patients, three are Maharashtra returnees, including one woman. As many as 75 patients, including five women, returned from Saudi Arabia recently. A two-year-old girl is among the Saudi returnees.

With this, the total number of coronavirus cases in Dakshina Kannada district so far has shot up to 370, among which 217 are currently active, according to the state bulletin. Eleven were discharged from hospital on Tuesday.

In Udupi, all seven new patients are Maharashtra returnees. They include five men, two women and two children.

With this, the total number of cases in Udupi has gone up to 1,035, with only 147 cases being currently active. As many as 65 patients were discharged from hospital on Tuesday.

    The graph is so confusing it shows sharp rise and fall district or state wise . If actual testing and to that testing positive or negative report is published then real picture can be understood and back log also to be shown systematically Instead the people of india and native of Karnataka while coming to their own place published in tv channel people coming from other parts . Karnataka is not a independent country so tv channel must desist from using such words while reporting .As per constitution they can stay where they are or they can move to any place in india legally

    As many as 75 patients, including five women, returned from Saudi Arabia recently. A two-year-old girl is among the Saudi returnees. Key word is "Among"... read again.. so it's one among those 75 returnees.

    Looks like the first flights coming from each foreign country has only covid 19 patients.. they were all aware
    Once here everyone is quarantined..and the govt is just announcing numbers for name sake daily..
    Looks like the everyone on the planes were infected.
