Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 12: As many as 17 new cases of novel coronavirus were reported in Dakshina Kannada, while 22 new cases were detected in Udupi on Friday June 12. As many as four and 31 people who recovered were discharged in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts respectively.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 43,073 people have been screened so far. A total of 10,417 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which 9,825 have tested negative, and 241 positive, including 10 persons from other districts. Out of these, 105 are currently active. As many as 129 persons have recovered and been discharged, and seven deaths have occurred so far.
Four patients were discharged from Wenlock on Friday. These two males aged 40 and 52 and two women aged 42 and 59.
A 50-year-old male patient is in a serious condition and being treated in the ICU.
As many as 236 samples were sent for testing on Friday. Reports of 47 samples were received on Friday, out of which 17 tested positive and the rest negative. Reports of 188 samples are awaited.
In Dakshina Kannada, among the 17 patients, 16 are males and one female. As many as 14 have come from Saudi Arabia, two are Maharashtra returnees and one is a Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) patient.
As many as 25 persons were admitted on Friday for observation.
A total of 5,477 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. On Friday, 27 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) were reported.
Udupi
As many as 22 cases were reported in Udupi on Friday. The patients are 14 males and eight females including four children. Among 22 patients, 21 are Maharashtra returnees and one male patient who came in contact of a lab technician who was tested positive few days ago.
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,750 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 63 on Friday, and a total of 4,852 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including one on Friday. As many as 456 persons are currently in home quarantine and 18 people under institutional quarantine. As many as one high-risk patient is under hospital quarantine.
A total of 80 people are in isolation wards, including 14 fresh admissions on Friday. Among them, three are coronavirus suspects, while nine have SARI and two influenza-like illness.
As many as 825 people, including 12 on Friday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 12,767 samples have been collected so far, including 72 on Friday. Out of them, 11,705 samples have turned out to be negative, including 26 on Friday, and 72 reports are awaited. As many as 990 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district. As many as 581 patients have been discharged including 31 on Friday, and 408 cases are active. One death has occurred so far.
