Mangaluru: SSLC exam preparations on, masks, sanitisers being supplied

Mangaluru, Jun 12: SSLC examinations are being held in the state from June 25 to July 4. In this connection, 65,000 masks and sanitisers have been supplied to the district. The masks have already been delivered to the schools for being given at the rate of two per student along with hall tickets.

Around 345 persons from Kasargod will be appearing for SSLC examination in Dakshina Kannada district. Correspondence on the issue of allowing these students to appear for the examinations was conducted between the district administrations of the two districts. The students will be issued passes to enable them to appear for the examinations. It is proposed to use vehicles from unaided schools for the students of Dakshina Kannada district needing such arrangements.

Education department officials said that the teachers are contacting the parents of such students and collecting information about their travel arrangements and other problems.

Over 30,835 students will be appearing for SSLC examinations in 95 examination centres in the district. Each of the rooms will have 20 students each. Students exhibiting symptoms of ill health will be given a separate room for writing the examination. Hall tickets will be distributed with effect from Monday.

    People or Government have to face this virus for few more years.

    Should the students be barred from undertaking exams till the virus is in place?

    I urge the Government to conduct Exams by giving Mapin ID for every student and that code is used from this academic year itself.( Vehicles of Different places are moving in our city and vice versa. Govt checks those vehicles paper and allows it to move. People draw/deposit money from/in different ATM instead of going to the parent branch to avail services.)

    In this age, everything is digital. There will not be constraints to conduct exams, if Mapin ID is provided and students accommodated to write exams at the nearest Examination centers.

    Students who are ready to appear for Exams can undertake Exams immediately on the announced dates. Others can write Exams after the virus is completely gone.

    Kindly make arrangements at all Examination Centers to accommodate students of other schools too, to undertake Exams at such centers of the students choice.

    We will not send our children for sslc exam it is too risky our children got infected by the covid 19 then what u will do Did exam is more important than the life all state are ready to cancel examination then why karnataka is doing these much of drama our children's are our life we can't take risk on there life plzz suresh Kumar sir cancel the examination

    You know the Govt did not spare even the migrant workers children and enrolled those children too, in schools and promoted education.

    None will bar you, if you keep your child to play on your lap even now. . People wishing this Nation's progress will surely make their child to undertake Exams.

    Why at this crucial time, holding innocent lives in danger? Are we so confident that all the children would be safe??...and write the exam without any fear???

    Remember not everyone resides close to the exam centre. Some have to travel five to six kilometres to reach.

    You are little more worried on children's health. That Child's parents too are moving out to earn, bring essentials for daily needs. So here too, the children are facing issues. But the parents are doing their routine.

    A small request to the minister and the district administration. The Question paper to all the SSLC students is the same though they study in schools of their choice.

    Instead of bringing students residing outside Mangalore to the study school here in Mangalore, to write exams may be difficult considering the ongoing monsoon, pandemic, flash floods etc. So the only best choice left to the Government and students is to undertake exams from the nearest Examination centre of that student.
    Such students can be mapped at nearest examination centre. Their Answer papers can be photocopied at same examination centre and the District Education Officer's office, before sending it to the evaluation centre.
    By this way, even the students from Containment Zone can undertake exam from the nearest Examination centre in this academic year itself. Similarly the students who cannot write exams if the school is in contaminant zone, can write exams at the nearest Exam centre of their choice. For Example, there are many students who come to Mangalore School from remote area(say above 60 kms) daily. If a containment area is in between these 2 places, such students may lose opportunity to appear in exams this year. To overcome all these hurdles, facilities can be easily made to such students to write exams at the nearest Examination centre.

    Hope the District Administration , State Government, Education Board consider this plea and work accordingly.

    Will Karnataka Government take responsibility if even one child catches Covid 19?
    Forget the bills. Will the Karnataka Government be responsible if there is any long term damage to the child's health?
    Is exams necessary at this point when cases are rising every single day?
    Can't we consider this entire year as continuation of the previous academic year?

    It will be a national tragedy if children gets affected.
    Shame on Karnataka Government.

    They should have conducted exams when there were few cases.
    When UPSC, Comedk, university exams are getting postponed, it doesn't really make sense to conduct exams at this time. Top educational institutes such as IITs are postponing or cancelling exams. Many state governments (Odisha, Telangana , Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra) have postponed or cancelled exams. There has been a lot of pressure from students and parents on this issue. Some parents have moved the supreme court about the same. Many students have breathing problems and sitting for 3 hours with masks on might cause breathing difficulties. Can they perform well in their exams and think properly without any pressure or discomfort.
    I read a comment about sanitizers and that is true. It is better to wash yout hands with soap than use santizers frequently. Sanitizers are good but they shouldn't be used frequently or unnecessarily. There is more information on the pros and cons of using sanitizers on the Internet.
    If the government wants to conduct exams, then there should be some guarantee or the government should be responsible for anything that happens. Also, there should be some leniency in correction as the circumtstances prevail. Exams aren't that important but we have made them important. Even our prime minister has told that. We need skilled and efficient people and ofcourse a better society.
