Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 8: Dakshina Kannada on Monday June 8 reported three new coronavirus cases, while Udupi district registered 45 new cases.

In Dakshina Kannada, the three are a 52-year-old man who returned from Maharashtra, a 23-year-old man who returned from Dubai and an 8-year-old boy who travelled from Maharashtra. All the three have been admitted to the designated COVID hospital in the district.

With this, the total tally of coronavirus cases in Dakshina Kannada has risen to 195 (including 10 from other districts), out of which 89 are currently active. As many as 99 patients have recovered and been discharged, and seven have died.

Among the 45 in Udupi, all are Maharashtra returnees. The patients comprise 33 males and 12 females including four children. They have all been admitted to the designated hospital.

Out of the 45 cases, nine are from Udupi, 34 from Kundapur and 2 from Karkala. All have been admitted to the designated hospitals in the respective areas. 

This takes the total number of coronavirus cases in Udupi district to 946, out of which 671 are currently active, 274 discharged, and one patient has died.

    Presence of organism does not indicate infection or disease. There are a large number of "resident" organisms in the body, and they do not necessarily imply disease or infection. Viral remnants also do not indicate disease.

    I feel we must not test many Just presence of an organism does not mena a person is infected. We are doing too much fo testing and thats causing havoc here. Feel its time to restrict testing only people who are having symptoms related to COVID 19, This is my opinion and many may not agree with this.

    Person with out of symptoms can be a virus carrier. he can transmit the virus to others . so its better to test all traveled from MH .

    Agree.. people with symptoms and his contacts needs to be tested.

    But we have reached complex stage now..
    People are not supposed to travel long distance..
    But people are traveling around.. so more testing is necessary

    Dear ma'am,

    Here are two options:
    1. Be aware of the consequences of the spread of coronavirus and test properly - isolate the ones affected, treat them. In other words, do your duty.
    2. Say stuff like, just having the "organism" (first of all, please google organism - that's a wrong phrase in this context) does not mean no need to test. This is being ultra negligent and talking shit, allowing the virus to spread. In 3 months, we won't be able to do anything - god knows around 200% more people might suffer.

    Take your pick and please stop spreading nonsense. Thanks.
