Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 4: On the 72nd day of the lockdown, four fresh cases of novel coronavirus were reported in Dakshina Kannada (DK) on Thursday June 4. As many as 92 cases were detected in Udupi. Three and 24 people who were cured were discharged in DK and Udupi district respectively.

As reported earlier, three males aged 34, 48 and 50 and a 28-year-old woman has tested positive. The woman had come from Dubai and while the three men had travelled from Maharashtra. Three people including two males and a two-year-old child who had cured were discharged on Thursday.

In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 42,801 people have been screened so far. A total of 9,246 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which reports of 8,953 have tested negative, and 143 positive, excluding 10 persons from another district. Out of these, 60 are currently active. As many as 76 persons have recovered and been discharged, and seven deaths have occurred so far.

As many as 125 samples were sent for testing on Thursday. Reports of 65 samples were received on Thursday, of which four were positive and 61 negative.

Reports of 150 samples are awaited. As many as nine people have been admitted for observation.

A total of 4,758 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. On Thursday, 18 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) were reported.

Udupi

As many as 92 cases were reported in the district on Thursday. All 92 have come from Maharashtra. As many as 92 people including 78 males, 13 females and one child, tested positive in Udupi on Thursday. Twenty-four people who had cured were discharged on Thursday.

As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,231 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 47 on Thursday, and a total of 4,820 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including 12 on Thursday. As many as 98 persons are currently in home quarantine and another 106 are under institutional quarantine.

Altogether, six high-risk persons and nine low-risk persons are under hospital quarantine. A total of 64 people are in isolation wards, including nine fresh admissions on Thursday. Among them, one is a coronavirus suspect, while six have SARI and two influenza-like illness.

As many as 748 people, including 14 on Thursday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.

A total of 12,520 samples have been collected so far, including seven on Thursday. Out of them, 10,225 samples have turned out to be negative, including 3,119 on Thursday, and 1,732 reports are awaited. As many as 563 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district. A total of 108 among them have been discharged, and 454 are active. One death has occurred so far.
