Lockdown day 71: Dakshina Kannada corona tally 139, Udupi reaches 472

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 3: On the 71st day of the lockdown, two fresh cases of novel coronavirus were reported in Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday June 3. As many as 62 cases were detected in Udupi. Four and 20 people who were cured were discharged in DK and Udupi district respectively.

As reported earlier, two males aged 25 and 36, tested positive. The 25-year-old had come from New Delhi and the 36-year-old had travelled from Maharashtra. Four people including three males and one female who had cured were discharged on Wednesday.

In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 42,680 people have been screened so far. A total of 9,121 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which reports of 8,811 have tested negative, and 139 positive, excluding 10 persons from another district. Out of these, 59 are currently active. As many as 73 persons have recovered and been discharged, and seven deaths have occurred so far.

As many as 75 samples were sent for testing on Wednesday. Reports of 34 samples were received on Wednesday, of which two were positive and 32 negative.

Reports of 46 samples are awaited. As many as 14 persons have been admitted for observation.

A total of 4,758 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. On Wednesday, no cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) were reported.

Udupi

As many as 62 cases were reported in the district on Wednesday. All 62 have come from Maharashtra. As many as 43 males and 15 females and four children, tested positive. Twenty people who were cured were discharged.

As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,184 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 73 on Wednesday, and a total of 4,808 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including eight on Wednesday. As many as 79 persons are currently in home quarantine.

Altogether, seven high-risk persons and 25 low-risk persons are under hospital quarantine. A total of 69 people are in isolation wards, including eight fresh admissions on Wednesday. Among them, one is a coronavirus suspect, while six have SARI and one influenza-like illness.

As many as 734 people, including nine on Wednesday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.

A total of 12,513 samples have been collected so far, including two on Wednesday. Out of them, 7,106 samples have turned out to be negative, including 851 on Wednesday, and 4,936 reports are awaited. As many as 472 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district. Eighty-four among them have been discharged, and 387 are active. One death has occurred so far.
