Mangaluru: Hospital woes - Khader slams district administration for neglecting poor sections

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jun 3: Former minister U T Khader, launched a scathing attack on Dakshina Kannada district administration for not taking into account the plight of the poor and the destitute. He pointed out that the poor people cannot fall back on government hospital facilities for treatment now, as the district does not have a government hospital, as the only government Wenlock Hospital has been vacated and turned into COVID-19 hospital.

"There was no advance information before the hospital was shifted. Poor people are facing untold miseries. They have no money to pay to private hospitals. Mangaluru cannot be compared to Bengaluru. Bengaluru has a number of government hospitals but Mangaluru has only one,” he stated.

Khader demanded for the opening of the outpatient department of Wenlock Hospital forthwith. He asked the district administration to understand and vibe to the difficulties of poor sections of the society.

On his attention being drawn to the flyover naming controversy, Khader recalled that Pumpwell circle was named as 'Mahaveera Circle' and the holy pitcher (Kalasa) was placed there. He noted that when the flyover was completed, discussions had taken place about the desirability of shifting the Kalasa. He pointed out that even after the flyover became a reality, the Kalasa is still there, but it is in a state of neglect and allowed to rust.

Khader said that people who are misusing the opportunity and creating controversy by putting up flexes etc at the flyover, and those who instigate people through such other acts, need to be acted against strictly. He said that it is the duty of the local MLA and district in-charge minister to take action. He said that if they do not do anything, one can construe that they are also hand in glove with the creators of this controversy.

He has done enough... Generic medicines at 50 percent discount was introduced by him which has helped the poor. For the size of Mangalore wenlock and lady Goshen is actually sufficient... No one sat with a crystal ball in the hand to know that Corona would come... Mr Khader is easily available to the public at any time.. He is a peoples person so kindly refrain from allegations... It is easy to point fingers at others but let is each ask ourselves... What have we personally done to help others during these times? Im sure most of is will have a deafening silence.

Instead of blaming one another initiate the process of bldg a govt hospital or at least a temporary hospital to serve the poor & needy people. Concerned people wake up. Better late than never.
