Undertrial tests COVID-19 positive in Tripura


Agartala, June 2 (IANS): An undertrial who was arrested a few days back in connection with drug smuggling, tested positive for COVID-19 in Tripura.

Tripura government spokesman and Law and Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said that in all 29 contacts of the undertrial man, including jailors and undertrials were identified and their swab samples would be tested.

Police said that the man was arrested from Madhupur under Sepahijala district (in western Tripura) under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and lodged at the Central Jail in Bishalgarh, 30 km south of Agartala.
