Mangaluru, May 19: Even with a limited audience base, Coastalwood has managed to sustain in the movie business for over 4 decades. Certain Tulu movies have even surpassed mainstream Hindi movies when it comes to having a long theatrical run.

The movies made in the region have been adored because of the flavour they bring to the table. Although made with a small budget, the winning aspect of the movies which continues to drive the viewers into the cinema halls is the script. Even when many movies might not be rich in content, they too have managed to get a cult following because of the love the people have for the language.

Meanwhile, along with the older generations, the youngsters have also been flocking to the movie halls that are screening Tulu movies. Many cinemagoers have appreciated the moviemakers in the Coastalwood for being able to stand ground for a long time amid the rising competition from English, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam movies.
