Vaidehi,as known to me, is a literary luminary who is blessed with power of creativity in literature which she utilizes for social awakening. She commands tremendous respect in the world of letters and is also a voracious orator. I hail National Sahitya Akademi's decision to award her. I also hail the announcement of award to Jess Fernandes for his work in Konkani literature. He also touches common man themes for his poetry and shows concern for welfare of the depressed class of society.
