Lockdown not permanent solution against Covid-19: Rahul

New Delhi, Apr 16 (IANS): Two days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced extension of lockdown measures for another 19 days, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said that the restrictions are only a pause button to curb the spread of the coronavirus but will not defeat the deadly disease.

Addressing a presser through video conferencing here, he appealed to all the political parties to work unitedly in the fight against Covid-19.

The Congress leader urged the Centre to revamp the testing ability and make arrangements for a sufficient number of ventilators.

He added that the lockdown is not a permanent solution to stop the virus, but the need of the hour is to test to identify those who have contracted the infection.

You dare having a open debate with him on all issues. Your masters are running away from him when they have to face Q&A session and parliamentary discussion with him. Only attacking him one sided fake bhashans against his intelligence.

    Dear Rahul,

Even school going children know that Lockdown does stop the Virus. This is to buy time for increasing the testing kits , gloves and ventilators etc. Lot of research is going on throughout the world with respect to vaccine, testing equipments giving faster results etc. developments are also happeninng in the area of robots as assistants. untill then we need lesser number of patients so that we are not overwhelmed to the extent that no resources are enough.

To all RaGa haters that he speaks very sensibly and to the point when situation demands. He is a practical person and not a fake bhashan person. Most importantly he doesn't intentionally fake and doesn't'promise that is unfulfilling for ulterior selfish motive. Some of govt minister's claim and innovative ideas for youth is really sickening and disgusting.

This man gives me enough reasons to tell me why he shouldn't be made pm ever, lockdown is a temporary solution agreed, but there is a limited stock of resting kits, and ewn if we were to go on mass test everyone in this country (considering the whole population) I can only imagine the kind of a situation it would have been, we are already seeing that in places like dharavi where mass testing is required. Full marks to the pm for not exhausting the number of testing kits and using it wisely on suspected cases and imposing the lockdown at a appropriate time, had it been this guy and his party in power I can imagine the decision to impose a lockdown itself wouldn't have passed for weeks or months from their high command, and also not to forget we would have seen some of their business minded ministers calling it a little flu, I believe if they really want to push for mass testing the political parties should donate money from their party funds to do so.

Keith, I actually failed to understand your logic.
    1. Chidambaram was demanding lock down much earlier than someone gets Jnanodaya at midnight.
    2. Even after the so called lock Down, the people from the Delhi congregation ALLOWED to leave freely. Why they are not tested or quarantined? Is that the duty of opposition?
    3. Why people from Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and Australia for the same congregation in Delhi, China already crossed 1000 mark infections and Wuhan province was locked down. Diamond Princess had more than 300 positives and Japan did not allowed it to dock. YET, people freely came out of the airport and joined the congregation. Whose responsibility it is to test and quarantine those foreigners? Opposition party??
    4. What measures that you're boasting? Is that those migrants struck and want to flee from those 5 star camps? made migrants to WALK more than 200 kms with hardly any food?
    5. Lastly your comment "their business minded ministers calling it a little flu" made me laugh. Is this the same government with ministers of extraordinary knowledge who proclaimed " Prince Charles is cured of Covid-19 by Ayurveda" " virus is attracted by the lamp and will be burnt" Virus doesn't like sound, so make more noise to drive away virus" Gomutra can cure cancer, diabetes and hypertension" " Arjuna's arrow had nuclear weapon" " plastic surgery and internet was in India long before it is known to western world" and so on.... smell some coffee mate!!!

Keith! Fully agree with your comments on this Man. Thank God he is was not made the PM of our country. Had it been for him our country with a population of 1.2 billion would have already had the highest number of positive cases and become the Epicenter of this virus. If lock down was not a solution then what is his or his party's solution to this?

Accept Kerala in India none of the state or the center has comprehensive plan of exist. People like Mr. Rahul Gandhi statement or not, every criticism should be considered in optimistic.

The India should have followed the 'Sweden Model' without affecting the entire population of the country. At the same time it should use 'Taiwan' and 'Singapore' way using technology to track the hot spot. The least Pakistan and Vietnam helping the needy people identifying the poverty line transfering the amount to the Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY).

Let's not forget this is the national crisis and government is fighting the invisible war. Unfortunately the misinformation of media is disintegrating the unity of the nation. At the same time dirty politics is being still played.

Don't make fun of any person. By hearing his video conference we can come to know that he has learnt a lot regarding this pandemic which our PM still he might not understand.

Our PM has to consult all the political parties ideas to tackle this pandemic. Not by taking his own ideas and dictating the ppl.

Some of the thoughts he suggested like
*disturb food to the poor ppl and if ration card is not there do temporary card and provide.
*give responsibility to state govt to decide rather than central controlling.
*wisely utilize the finance, since there will severe financial crunch once this pandemic is stopped.
    * do random test on the ppl than waiting for the patient to come and do the test on him / her.
    * increase testing.

Always we should not make fun of any person, every person is having something in there knowledge. Those ppl we think are of no use are the ppl who know more than the ppl who think iam super genius and I don't want anyone's need or advice. Same our PM does now.

What he has done for the poor ppl and daily wage people. Only did drama by telling to clap and make sound and light a diya. And big bashans.

That is not the need of the hour, food is the need of the hour and steps to eradicate this pandemic.

Totally agree with Rahul Gandhi, all political parties should come together and fight the COVID19. Lockdown is a temporary solution to stop the spreading. To defeat the virus government needs to increase the testing and provide proper PPE's.
