Three more people tested positive for coronavirus in Bhatkal

Bhatkal, Mar 28: Three more people were tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) infection in Bhatkal on Saturday, March 28.

A 65-year-old person, who had come from Dubai was admitted to the hospital for coronavirus infection. Now it is confirmed that his family members are also infected with the dreaded virus.

The 55-year-old wife of the person and his two daughters aged 22 and 28 years are confirmed to have the infection. With this, the total cases of coronavirus infection in Bhatkal has risen to six.

All infected people are shifted to Patanjali naval hospital of Karwar.

Earlier, four people were confirmed to have coronavirus infection. The first person had come from Dubai to Mangaluru international airport via SpiceJet on March 19. As he showed symptoms of coronavirus infection, he was admitted to Wenlock hospital in Mangaluru. He is under treatment there itself.

The second case was that of a person who is a 40-year-old, had come from Dubai on March 21 to Mangaluru International airport. He had been to the hospital in the afternoon on his own as he felt fever and his throat swab test confirmed that he is having coronavirus infection.

In another case, a 65-year-old man of Bhatkal origin had come to Mumbai on March 19 from Dubai. From there he had travelled to Bhatkal via Mangalore Express train and had reached Bhatkal on March 20. From Bhatkal railway station, he had proceeded to his house along with his son in an auto rickshaw. However, he did not have any symptoms of infection. After two days, he got high fever and was admitted to Bhatkal taluk hospital by the health department personnel. His infection was confirmed on March 23.

One more infected person was a 22-year-old youth who has arrived at Dabolim airport of Goa from Dubai on March 20. He had food in one of the hotels in Karwar and had left to Bhatkal along with his brother. His throat swab sample had also confirmed that he was having coronavirus infection.

    fyi its because of a high percentage of its population living abroad. And there is no news of any people of bhatkal escaping quarantine or not cooperating with govt as such to bring any such disgrace.

    It is of course their choice however they should their chest thumping behaviour in claiming that their state is the best in everything . If it was the best entire north Kerala wouldn’t be dependent on mangalore and Manipal for its medical needs

    IMHO, if one were to check people randomly irrespective of any parameters, 1 in 10 would be definitely positive as nearly 85-90% of infected have only mild symptoms which subside in a week; only 10-15% will have marked symptoms which would warrant a compulsory check up!!

    Bhatkal and kasargod district needs to improve their medical facilities all are coming to mangalore. India has reached third stage of covid 19 now virus will spread like dust in air everywhere there will be virus so please stay indoors and wenlock needs to be prepared even if 1 is positive in mangalore it can lead to hundreds getting infected. So far in mangalore only wenlock is kept as main hospital for covid

    Actually i dont think this will help much to control spreading virous. Those who visit city or shop everyday may exchange virous. Now almodt everyone knows what is lockdown really mean. So give two days full open to buy anything for 1 month then stop completley, no markets at all expect ambulances. Them may control something...othervise we just like playing tom n jerry with virous
