Udupi: Kasturba Hospital Manipal OPD services closed till April 15

Udupi, Mar 26: Dr TMA Pai Hospital, here will be closed from March 27 for OPD, inpatient and emergency services.

As a precautionary measure to contain and prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID – 19), the management of Kasturba Hospital, Manipal decided to close the OPD services till April 15, with immediate effect. However, only medical emergency and urgent services will function with the following changes.

Patients with fever, cough and other urgent check-ups should visit the temporary screening kiosk set up outside the hospital and then shift to the respective departments for further treatment if needed. Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy patients should directly visit Shirdi Sai Baba Cancer Hospital. Pregnant women should directly visit women and child block. Those who are on dialysis should directly visit the Dialysis centre. Laboratory services are available only for emergency purposes.

Routine vaccination services for children will not be available till April 15.

Trauma & Emergency services will function as usual. All are requested to cooperate.

*Special Announcement: Dr TMA Pai Hospital, Udupi will be closed from March 27 for all out-patients, inpatients and emergency services for the general public. All the existing patients of Dr TMA Pai Hospital Udupi are requested to visit Kasturba Hospital Manipal for all emergency services.

    Wow, when the society needs the most of these medical facilities, hospital's are closed. The only reason I could think of is they do not have sufficient medical equipment or material to treat pandemic. Imagine if china or Italy had closed down hospitals.

    The Kasturba Hospital Manipal is not closed. Only OPD is temporarily suspended as per Govt Directives. Emergency/ Trauma and Essential services including Inpatient, chemotherapy, dialysis and so on are active. Only non essential or not urgent services are temporarily suspended.

    Buddy they are preparing the Hospital for a potential of Influx of Cases. Normal OPD is a non-essential service in current circumstances. Imagine 1 Corona Virus Positive patient comes to the Kasturba Hospital OPD and he mixes with all the Immunocompromised patients in the OPD. It is a recipe for Disaster. Considering that KH is one of the premier medical institution in the country, it is consciously preparing for the Outbreak. Instead of criticizing blindly, please try to understand the News completely. Ultimately it's KH which will be coming to the rescue of your loved ones. Please Stay Home. And Stay Safe. So that you and your loved ones should not be affected. Take Care.
